 May was the second consecutive month in which player spending on sports betting in Massachusetts declined, despite the fact that the Bay State was able to record an increase in handling from the previous year to the current year itself.

 It was 32.4% greater than May of the previous year, with a total betting handle of $587.3 million (£462.7 million/€547.6 million), yet it was 2.7% lower than the $603.3 million that was wagered in Massachusetts in April of this year.

 In terms of the retail sector, Encore Boston Harbour was the market leader, bringing in $540,882 in revenue from wagers totalling $5.5 million.  Additionally, Plainridge Park Casino reported a revenue of $133,573 from a total handle of $3.6 million.

 Nevertheless, MGM Springfield reported a loss of $568,834 from a total of $1.1 million in wagers during the month of May.
